John “The Missing Link” Robertson Passes Away

John "Dewey" Robertson, known to wrestling fans around the world as The Missing Link passed away 3:30 am this morning in his native Hamilton, Canada after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 68 years old. Robertoon began his career in the 1960's as the protégé of Whipper Billy Watson and also used the ring names Troy Steel and the Masked Crusader. But Robertson's biggest wrestling success would be portraying the mute, green faced, Neanderthal-like "Missing Link" Character. Robertson had runs with Bill Watt's Mid-South Wrestling, the Von Erich's World Class Championship Wrestling and a brief run in the WWF, with Bobby Heenan as his manager.

Robertson retired and left the business for a while, but returned to it in 2004 working religious based Independent shows. He released an autobiography entitled, "Bang Your Head," in which he discussed his career, battles with drug addiction, homelessness, and returning to Canada where he would turn his life around.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE Hall of famer, Sherri Russell, known to wrestling fans as "Sensational Sherri", passed away this morning at her home. She was 49 years of age.
Police is said to be at her home with her husband. There are no details on the cause of death.

Mike Awesome Dead At 42

Credit: www.wrestleview.com As reported earlier by Paul Nemer, Mike Alfonso, known to wrestling fans as Mike Awesome, was found dead on Saturday night in the Tampa area according to those close to the family. Awesome was 42 years old.According to The Wrestling Observer, friends were coming to his home in Tampa to pick him up and go out on Saturday night at around 10:30pm ET. When he didn't answer the door, friends went inside his home and found him hanging. As of now, the death is believed to be due to suicide pending results of an autopsy.Mike Awesome was a top star for FMW in Japan and was known as a high-flying big man during his stay with ECW that saw him capture the ECW World Heavyweight Title in 1999 and 2000. Awesome later made a controversial move by signing with WCW while he was still ECW Champion. Tazz, who had left ECW and signed a deal with the then WWF, was brought back to ECW to beat Awesome for the title. Awesome remained with WCW until its demise in 2001 and made the jump to the WWF soon afterwards as part the Invasion/Alliance storyline. His last big wrestling appearance was at the ECW One Night Stand PPV in 2005. Former WWF superstar Bam Bam Bigelow Passed Away over the weekend.

He was found dead this morning at his home in Florida.
At this time, the cause of death is unknown, and an investigation into the death of the 45-year old is currently ongoing by local authorities in Hudson, Florida.

In 1993 Raw was always from the same place

The Grand Ballroom at Manhattan Center Studios,

a small New York City theater. Women would hold

a large card in the air walk around the ring with words like

"We'll Be Raw". Many a feud took place like Ted dibiase and

irs Irwin R Schyster ramming a brief case with a brick in it in

to the face of Brutus The Barber Breefcake which was fixed after

his face was really shattered in a speed boat accident.The partner

of brutus could only watch as he was at home but praised jimmy hart

from trying to stop debiase and irs from doing damage to brutus even

though jimmy hart was irs and dibiase aka money inc manager.

Jimmy left them joined hogan and brutus to form the mega maniacs.

Other show highlight included new comer 123 kid beating Razor Ramon

so razor offered a hughe some of money in a bag left in the ring corner

for a match with razor so the smart kid accepted and halfway through

the match legged it with the bag of cash out the building in to a waiting

limo.

WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper has been hospitalized in Oregon for surgery after being sent home from WWE’s tour of the United Kingdom. Piper’s original diagnosis was kidney stones, however, sources close to the situation say the former World Tag Team Champion’s surgery may be a result of disc problems.

Due to Piper's injury, he will not participate at Survivor Series and will be replaced by a Legend to be named later. Ric Flair will now be the lone captain of the Legends team and Kenny will captain the Spirit

Former WCW wrestler Bobby Eaton did indeed suffer a heart attack a few weeks ago. He denied having it because he didn't want his bookings to be canceled. He was back wrestling less than two weeks after his heart attack. Also, now he is doing wrestling angles based on the attack. During the 10/26 show in Alcoa, Tennessee, they brought back the heart punch gimmick for his opponent to use on Eaton as a finisher. The promotion explained to the crowd before the match that Eaton had "numerous complications with his heart over the last few months."

Daniel Garcia, who starred as Huracan (Hurricane) Ramirez during the golden age of Mexican wrestling films in the 1960s, has died of a heart attack, family members said on Wednesday.

Garcia, who died on Tuesday at the age of 80, wore a blue-and-white mask in matches in Asia, South America and the Caribbean. He also played leading roles in several movies during his three-decade-long career.

His identity was not revealed until he retired in 1987.

Garcia's on-screen persona, Huracan Ramirez, and other masked wrestlers fought vampires, international crime organizations and Martians in low-budget, but extremely imaginative movies treasured by cult-film collectors worldwide.

September 4 1995 a new era in wrestling began when wcw went head to head to compete with vince mcmahons WWF Raw.Erich bischoff had a part in it a big part helping ted turner to make wcw a success by poaching numerous wwf superstars.Erich bischoff had idea of getting wwf stars barging in on wcw matches shocking the fans into saying but but that wrestler is employed by wwf not knowing they have been released or contract is up etc.
In 1996 wcw would take a straight 86 week lead against Raw.On the very first edition of Nitro, Lex Luger (who was working for the WWF without a contract) made a surprise appearance during the Ric Flair vs. Sting match and the program's main event between Hulk Hogan and Big Bubba Rogers.
On Monday, August 9, 1999, during the main event of Nitro, Hulk Hogan did what many believed he would never do again. As Sting and Goldberg awaited Hogan, the classic American Made theme began playing. At first, many fans didn't know what to think and quietly stood up. A few seconds later, Hogan emerged in the classic red and yellow and the fans roared in approval as Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan screamed into their headsets "THE RED AND YELLOW'S BACK!" The team of Hogan, Goldberg, and Sting went on to defeat Kevin Nash, sid Vicious, and Rick Steiner when Sting made Nash tap out to the Scorpion Death Lock.

The night of the very last nitro came march 26 2001 vince made a statement on raw of his purchase of wcw and simultaniousley shane went to wcw with vince not knowing that wcw was brought in shanes name.

Beautiful" Bobby Eaton, unquestionably one of the greatest tag team performers of all time, was released from Holston Valley Medical Center in Tennessee yesterday.

Eaton, a former multi time NWA/WCW Tag Team Champion, was considered to be one of the best high flyers of his time and was part of arguably one of the best tag teams in wrestling history, The Midnight Express. He later became a member of Paul Heyman's Dangerous Alliance in WCW.

Eaton had suffered a heart attack and because of it had to have a stint placed into his heart.

On behalf of everyone here at WrestleView.com we would like to wish Bobby quick and speedy recovery and the very best for his family during this trying time for him.

Backstage:
Ted Dibiase: Well hello ladies alundra,luna i see you have a match with sherri well i want to make you an offer see i have prior engagements with sherri so i'll give you $500 dollars each if you let sherri win and continue being the women champ.Think about it.

BH: He's offereing them a bribe.
SM: And sherri knows nothing of this as alundra comes out followed by luna.

Match 1 sherri (c) v luna v alundra women title match

Hogan in with gonzalez first gonzalez is over shadowing hogan and how will hogan get this giant of his feet.Hogan bounces of the ropes and in to gonzalez but no luck hogan does the same again and gonzalez sends a boot to hogans face.Gonzalez picking up hogan and putting him in a adomminal stretch .Andre trying to encourage hogan to break out only gonzalez lets go .Hogan in pain crawls over to his corner to tag andre .Gonzalez pulls hogan away and steps on him.Gonzalez covers hogan but andre steps in and kicks gonzalez back to break the pin and the ref tells andre to get back to his corner.Hogan now in his corner and manages to reach out for the tag ...but wait what's going on andre has stepped of the ring apron and making his way up the aisle and hogan calling him back and even gonzalez is shocked.Wippleman telling gonzalez to finish hogan of and as hogan gets to his feet gonzalez gives hogan a chokeslam before getting the pin 1,2,3.

BH: See what i mean hogan has no friends and gonzalez has destroyed hogan.

MG: Hi folks mene gene here trying to get an interview with andre and he told me to go away and hogan is not talking as he limbered out slowly and was driven away so back to you sean and bobby.

Match 3 Ric Flair v Buddy Landell

Flair straight in and attacks from behind of landell and flair putting a suplex on landell and landell goes down and flair covers but landell gets his feet on to the bottom rope .The ref breaks the pin and landell gets up and shouts woooo to the audience as flair with a running clothes line sends landell down.Ric on landell sending punches to landells head and the ref warns flair who breaks up his clenched fist.Bobby heenan shouting encouragement to flair .Landell runs flair flips him over his back and gets a leg lock in posistion as he does this landell also gets a figure four leglock but flair unaware but no one is getting any pain and now rick rude runs in strikes down bobby heenan and pulls on landells hands as ref not seeing calls for the bell .

SM: Well seems the ref has called this a draw coz they both had figure four leg locks.Flair up dancing around like mad rick rude pulls landell asway and up the aisle.

BH: Sean that buddy cheated
SM: Well your lucky you have left ringside as the debut of jake the snake roberts is on his way to the ring with a sack.
BH: I heard rumors he has a snake in that bag.
SM: Ha ha that's real funny.

Jake: Now i wanna know if anyone backstage is scared of my name being associated with a snake? Because snake is venomus and can be dangerous to a human being one bite and that poision runs up you veins in to your blood and soon you'll die.But then why am i here as the master of the ddt won't have anyone to feast on coz your all a bunch of cowards every one yellow bellied..

Match 4 Bret v Sid (c) Heavyweight title match

Bret walking the ring and now both hands in the air and going for a test of strength and sid is weakening bret so bret boots sid in the mid section and an elbow on the back and sid is down to the mat.Bret climbs the mid buckle before a flying elbow drop but sid moves and a quick cover but no pin.Sid pulls bret up by the hair and swings bret to the ropes sid bends bret bounces of the ropes stops and kicks sid in the head and sid is down and cover 1,2,..and sid manages to break it up.The crowd on their feet for this one and a knee to sid and a suplex by bret to sid .Quickly sid is up and a clothesline sid goes out the ring and bret follows grabs sid's head slamming it on the ring apron and puts him back in.Bret back in and a roll up but no pin .Both men tired sid up but bret trips sid up and he falls straight on the ref who falls out the ring,harvey wippleman gets in but bret throws him back out...What the a person in a black mask is running to the ring who this sid is back up and wait that guy a flying kick in to bret hart and bret falls in to sids arms and sid raising bret on his shoulders and sends bret down and the mask guy shoves the ref in the ring beforefleeing the building. Theres a cover 1,2,3,

BH: I'm speechless who was that guy

SM: No idea but who ever it was screwed bret out of winning the heavyweight title and sid raising the title as bret lay in the ring. Well next week the legion of doom take on the nasty boys

MG: Oh Wait it's paul bearer from behind with that urn slamming it in to fuji's head oh please..

BH: He's enraged berzerker and berzerker choking down on the neck of paul bearer and the undertaker no where to be seen ..he's scared sean scared...

Tonight:
BH: Tonight your gonna see the debut of my man ric flair,

SM: Not forgetting we saw harvey wippleman and his wrestler sid justice in a championship title match with hogan we'll wippleman brought giant gonzalez to the ring who destroyed hogan when the ref was oit cold leaving sid to win the title.

Match 1 New Tag Team Champs Legion Of Doom v Rick Rude/Buddy Laddel
There goes buddy ladell and woos all over the place reminding us of a ric flair guy.
Hawk now grabbing buddy's arm and twisting it and buddy shouts in agony .Hawk gets a tag to animal who enters and sends a sharp boot to the mid section of buddy and he goes down.Buddy on the mat trying to reach for his tag team partner rick rude but animal grabs buddy's leg and pulls him back in to the center of the ring.Animal goes for a elbow drop .Buddy moves and manages to get a figure four leg lock on animal.Animal now in pain as rick rude egers buddy on.
Hawk goes in but ref sends him out and animal trying to grab the rope.But wait ..

Bobby Heenan: There you go mooney here comes my man ric flair making his way down the ring.
Sean Mooney: Well ric rude just got of the ring apron and is facing ric flair but ric walks pass and is watching the match.

BH: My man knows what he's doing ...
SM: Ric flair grabbing a steel chair and #Whack# sends the chair in to the back of ric rude.
BH: This is great this is what the world wants to watch .
SM: Flair entering the ring and takes down animal and hawk getting in but the chair hits hawk .
BH: He's taking everyone out mooney.
SM: Buddy gets up and both flair and buddy stares at each over and buddy does the woooo chant.Flair still stareing and wooo from buddy #Whack# Oh wait just a...
BH: That's it no one inpersonates ric flair and gets away with it.

(Flair raises the chair in the air heenan goes in the ring and his music airs as we go to a break)

SM: Welcome back and standing by is mene gene okerlund with hulk hogan.

MG: Hogan i gotta be appalled by what transpired courytesy of harvey wippleman and giant gonzalez ruining your chance of being the heavyweight champ and your opponent last week sid justice is the heavyweight champion of tww.
HH: Well let me tell you something mene gene my waist is bandaged because the way i was man handled .Sid that title belongs round my waist brother and as for the snake harvey wippleman and giant gonzalez theres only one person and one person only that can stop you and
i challenege you next week brother you giant gonzalez and me and my opponent brother two on one.

MG: Well we could be in for a treat next week back to you sean.

Match 2 Women Champ Sherri v Alundra Blayze.(non title)

Sherri raising her title as alundra pushes her from the back and sherri falls down.Alundra grabbing some of sherri's hair and swinging her around by it and lets go and alundra goes top buckle but sherri is up and throws alundra down.But wait it's luna running to the ring and attacking sherri and the ref has to call the bell and this match goes to a non contest and luna grabbing the mic.

Luna: Sherri,Sherri, that belt belongs to me but you cheated with that show last week i want that belt.

SM: Well coming down to the ring is TWW president gorilla monsoon and taking the mic from luna lets listen.

GM: I have heard what you said and yes we did see sherri use a shoe last week and also the ref decision is final next week it will be a rematch with you and sheri for the title but as you interfered in this match alundra blayze will be in that match next week.Thank you.

BH: I don't think luna likes that alundra is in the match aswell.
SM: Well she'll have to cope with it.Anyway more wrestling action to come when we return after this time out.

Match 3 doink v kamala
Kimchee manager of kamala and doink now squirting the face of kamala with that flower and doink laughs and kamala slaps his stomach and sends a chop to doink who goes down and doink quickly gets up and pulling some flowers out of his sleeves as kamala looks on stares but he's no fool slams down doink and gets on the top buckle jumps on to doink weaiting for the pin but everyones says he has to turn the guy over to pin as he does 1,2,3, .

BH: This guy is looney send him back to the jungle he hasn't matured yet.
SM:Kimchee leading kamala away.

Advert: Bones can break so don't try this at home.

BH: Mene gene is in the ring with dr harvey wippleman and sid justice.

MG: Sid what we saw last week....
Sid: Shut it mene gene i don't wanna talk about that i want to open a challenge for my heavyweight title next week.Anyone brave enough to challenge me for the title next week to face the man who owns the world get your stinking baxckside to the ring.

(Music hits as bret the hitman hart walks down to the ring grabbing a mic)

BH: What 's That idiot doing you saw sid beating hogan last week.
SM: But not by his own bobby.

MG: ok cool it guys come on.
Bret: I wanna say that sid doesn't deserve the title and next week the best there is ,the best there was ,and the best there ever will be will beat you and take that title.
(bret music hits)

SM: Next week ladies and gentleman a title match bret v sid aslong as he keeps gonzalez away.
BH: Gonzalez is gonna be busy with hogan and his mystery partner now who be partner with that yellow belly hogan.
SM: Well coming up the darkside the undertaker will take on the viking warrior next.

The Rebuttle! Jake the snake:
My name is jake the snake roberts ,i don't call my self snake for nothing because i'm sly i slither where no one sees me when i creep up from behing and bam ddt you and when i get to tww.I will strangle my opponent and set damian on to you.

SM: Theres a character i wouldn't want to come face to face with.
BH: The lights have gone out and mooney theres a guy you don't want to meet and that's the undertaker.
SM: Undertaker walking out with paul bearer as the berzerker and fuji wait in the ring.

Match 4 Undertaker v The berzerker.

Undertaker slowly walking round the ring and berzerker running towards him only to be caught by the throat .Berzerker manages to boot taker in the gut and lets go and berzerker bouncing of the ropers in to the undertaker and again so taker sends a fist to the stomach of berzerker.
Fuji climbs the ring apron and taker lets berzerker go and taker knocks fuji of the apron.Berzerker from behind grabbing taker in a bear hug and squeezing the life out of taker.Ref lifting takers arms 2 times and on the third gets strength to break out the bear hug.Fuji knocks paul bearer down grabs the urn climbs the on to the ring goes to hit taker with the urn he moves slams it in to berzerker taker knocks fuji of the ring and puts a tombstone on berzerker lights out 1,2,3, paul bearer back up with the body bag as lights go out.

BH: That's scary sean and look at taker kneeling before that urn that rusted pot.
SM: A big win for the undertaker and next week bret hart goes one on one with sid justice for the heaveyweight title.
BH:Hoganand his partner 2 on one with giant gonzalez.Mad hogan has a screw loose.
SM: Just say goodbye bobby.
BH: Good bye bobby.
SM:See you next week bye for now.

MG: It's spooky that's all i can say folks but speaking of spooks this guy will leave you shaking in your boots and i'm trembling in mine .Here is the manager of the undertaker paul bearer.One question what will the undertaker bring to the tww.
Paul Bearer: Ohh my undertaker will put fear fearrrr in to the harts of all comers ..undertaker
Undertaker: The spirit of the dead will rise Caskets and body bags for the fallen souls of the ones who challenge the spirit of the dead the undertaker.
MG: I er don't know what... i,m going ..

SM: standing by is mene gene with president gorilla monsoon.
GM: Earlier paul bearer came to me and wanted a match to take place saying his undertaker isn't scared and will face him.So next week berzerk takes on the undertaker
.MG: Shocking turns of event and in the heaveyweight title match aswell.

The undertaker will take on the viking warrior in show 2 and what will hogan say about the way he lost his chance at winning the heavyweight championship title against sid justice when the 7ft 4 giant gonzalez entered the ring.

Mene Gene: "Ladies and gentleman children of all ages you in for a treat as the wrestling world other wise known as tww makes it debut.Were about wrestling and champions are what is created and i like to hand over to the president of tww Gorilla monsoon."

GM: "Well thank you mene gene and hello all you wrestling fans sit down enjoy yourself for wrestling in the making we have a women title a championship title a tag title as well.So let get our first match underway for the women title and your commentary from bobby the brain heenan and sean mooney"

Sean Mooney: Thanks and as our women get to the ring...

Bobby Heenan: Beat it wise guy your making a mockery all ready
not telling the viewers the names of the contestants.

SM: I was gonna let them know it's sensational sherri and luna vachon.

Match 1 notes: Women Title Match Luna v Sherri

Bell rings and were underway as the women walk around the ring and
luna grabs sherri's arm pulling her towards her and knocking her back
down to the mat.Luna gets a swift cover but sherri kicks out and luna
grabbing sherri by the hair and sherri let's out an all mighty scream
manages to send her left knee in to luna's abdominal area and luna lets go.
Sherri jumping on the back of luna and the ref joey marrela gets to near
and ends up getting squashed and down to the mat as sherri rolls outta the
ring.Luna looking for sherri but sherri is under the ring and luna is looking
over the rope but a suprise sherri comes from the other side sneaks in to
the ring bring a high heeled shoe slamming it in to lunas head and out like
a light she goes.Sherri reviving the ref who sees the cover 1,2,3, ding ding.

SM: She did it sherri is the first women champion and mene gene is in the ring
to get words.

MG: Sherri you have become the first e...(Luna comes and pulls her of stage) Hey get her outta here .We need security.When we come back i'll be talking to the man from the dark side he is the undertaker along with paul bearer his manager a little later.When we return after this time out.

Ad: We see other superstars flash on screen with the name of the wrestler coming soon to tww.
ric flair,roddy piper,jake the snake, Nasty boys,Machoman, A few to name the least.

SM: Welcome back now we go backstage somewhere the funeral parlour?

BH: Funeral Parlour i don't like this one bit menne gene's an idiot to go there.

BH: Er hum hey we got another match it's tag team action again for the tag team titles legion of doom taking on the beverley brothers bo and blake.

Match 2 Tag Title Match beverley brothers v legion of doom

Bell sounds and hawk in first with bo and hawk wants a test of strength
and both put hands to one another but hawk is weakening down bo .Now
bo kicks hawk in to the gut and hawk goes down to his knees with bo's arm
around hawks head squeezing him. Animals runs in sends a kick to the back of bo
and blake comes in but ref tim white has it under control sending them back to
the corner .Both competitors on their feet and hawk swings bo to the corner where
blake tags runs to hawk ,hawk grabs him lifts him up and down on his feet then tags
animal .Animal waits for blake to get to his feet and a running clothesline sends blake
back to the mat.Someone is walking up the aisle with a metal scroll and that is the
genius the manager of the beverley brothers and d
istracting the ref and with out the ref
seeing slides the scroll to blake well he thought but animal picks it up and genius getting
in ring only for ref to be distracted more as animal whacks the metal scroll on blakes
cranium and he's out like a lamp.Animal lifts blake on his shoulders as hawk on top
buckle flying clothesline blake goes down cover 1,2,3.

SM: The new tag team champions the legion of doom

BH: Just bad timing for the genius.

SM: Bo pointing the finger at genius and runs after him as they leave the arena.

MG: My guest with me at this time a viking warrior with manager me fuji the berzerker.

Berzerker: Hush... Hush...

MG: What's wrong can't he talk

Sid Justice: Hogan you don't have a fighting chance coz i'm the man that rules the world...

Real american hits hogan makes way to the ring.

Match 3 hulk hogan v sid justice heaveyweight championship title match.

Bell Sounds: Sid stares at hogan and get in each others face so hogan
lands a punch to the head of sid and sid falls to the rope .Now hogan
grabbing sids arm pulls him in to the other rope and a running clothes
line but sids throws him over the rope and out the ring as earl hebner
counts.Hogan looking a little shock as wipleman throws gestures towards
hogans way.Hogan getting in the ring as sid grabs hogans hair and pulls
him up and hogan elbows the stomach of sid and gets in the ring sid bending
hogan with a leg drop on sid a count 1,2,.. but wippleman pulls hogans leg
and off sid and the count broken up as hogan points his finger at wippleman.
Hogan runs after him but wippleman leaves the ring area. Hogan back in the
ring with 2 seconds of the 10 count spared.Hogan in the ring sid goes out
grabs a steel chair and the ref pulling it away as sid let's go the chair whacks
the ref in the face and he's down.Hogan and sid fight outside the ring

BH: Here comes harvey back out and he's calling someone i knew he had a trick up his sleeve sean.

SM:Oh my i don't believe it thats the south american beast giant gonzalez.

BH: He's about 7 ft 6 tall and grabbing hogan and throwing him down like a rag doll
Hogan being put back in the ring and wippleman throws the ref in and 1,2,3,
Ding Ding,

SM: Sid has just won the heaveyweight title with all this going on he doesn't deserve it.

BH: Well are you going to tell him..

SM: standing by is mene gene with president gorilla monsoon.

Superstar Billy Graham Hospitalized

is reporting that Superstar Billy Graham was hospitalized last night and remains in the hospital today due to a bowel obstruction stemming from a prior operation.The goal right now is to be able to remove the obstruction without surgery, which is being touted as a very risky proposition.We will continue to follow this story as it develops.

Steve Doll On Life Support

- Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer has reported that former WWF wrestler Steve Doll is on life support this morning at The Baptist Hospital in Nashville. Doll's kidney's shut down on him this morning.

Doll was part of the tag team "Well Dunn" in the mid-90's as Steven Dunn. Doll was also a part of the very popular tag team, The Southern Rockers, in the Oregon area some 15 years ago.

On behalf of everyone at WrestleView, our thoughts go out Doll, his family and his friends at this difficult time.

WWF REWIND: King Of The Ring 96

It's spring 1996, back when the WWE was called the WWF and Shawn Michaels
hair wasn't thinning! LOL Speaking of Mr Michaels, he was well into his
first WWF Title run having captured the title from Bret Hart in an Ironman
classic at Wrestlemania XII and successfully defended it against his former
bodyguard Deisel in a great No Holds Barred confrontation at IYH:Good
Friends/Better Enemies. However at the previous months PPV IYH:Beware Of
Dog, Shawn Michaels and The "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith were involved
in one of he most controversial matches of the time in which the referee
counted both mens shoulders to the canvas ruling the match a no contest! A
rematch was signed for King Of The Ring but this time there would be a
special guest referee. Lucky for the WWF, they had just the man for this
"special" job, "Mr Perfect" Curt Hennig, but anyone who remembers
Wrestlemania X knows Hennig is not a man to be trusted as a referee! On
paper this match had "classic" written all over it cause whenever Shawn
wrestled Davey Boy, they always produced a great match but tonight was
different because it was for all the marbles but how far would the WWF push
the "guest referee" angle in this one and would it spoil a potential
classic? Also on the card we had The Undertaker taking on Mankind, the
deranged psychopath, who first attacked him the night after Wrestlemania
XII. Anyone who knew Mankind from his WCW/ECW/Japan days as Cactus Jack
knew this man would do anything and i mean ANYTHING in or outside that ring
to destroy his opponants, even if it meant destroying his own body in the
process. On paper this match looked like it could be something special
indeed. The Ultimate Warrior would take on Jerry Lawler in a match that
everyone prayed would be a 30 second squash and nothing more! The Smoking
Gunns would battle The Godwinns for the WWF tag team titles in a match that
i doubt anyone was bothered about. Meanwhile WWF I-C Champion Goldust was
on a roll, playing his character perfectly and but Ahmed Johnson was in the
process of a big push and it was obvious he would be the new I-C champ at
this PPV which sucked cause Ahmed SUCKED! Finally we had the KOTR
tournament itself which was had been shortened from an 8 man tourney to a 4
man tourney this year to make way for other matches presumably, but when
you realise those matches involved The Ultimate Warrior, The Godwinns, The
Smoking Gunns and Ahmed Johnson you were left wondering why did they
bother?!? Anyway it was hard to pick a winner this year cause firstly you
had Steve Austin who had just broken away from Ted Dibiase and was making a
name for himself on WWF TV but after 6 months of being "The Ringmaster"
would anyone take this guy seriously? Jake Roberts was a possible favourite
and the fans already had a name to call Jake if he won: King Cobra! Vader
was getting pushed like a monster and was proberbly the top favourite to
win here as he and Shawn Michaels were already tipped to headline
Summerslam. Marc Mero was proberbly the only wrestler who you could "write
off" as KOTR as although he'd been getting a bit of a push, there seemed no
point in having him win as he was certainly not in line for a main event
push.

The New Rockers(Marty Jannetty & Leif Cassidy:i.e Al Snow) vs The Body
Donnas(Skip & Zip:Chris Candido & Tom Prichard)-this was the "Free For All"
match taht took place during the countdown show for the PPV and despite the
lame gimmicks these teams had, they actually produced a rather good tag
team match. The ever delicious Sunny was shown watching the match on a
moniter backstage and looking disgusted that The Body Donnas had replaced
her with a new "female" MANager by the name of Cloudy-notice how i've
highlighted MAN in manager and you'll no doubt guess Cloudy's gimmick. The
babyfaced Body Donnas picked up the win in this decent lowcard encounter.
7.5/10-A very good match and proof that either
one of these teams should have been the current tag team champions, NOT the
bland Smoking Gunns or the awful Godwins who would face off for the gold at
the PPV!

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs "Wildman" Marc Mero-Excellent opening contest
in which both men display their truly underrated mat wrestling skills.
Austin gets his mouth busted open quite badly here in what appears to have
been a genuine accident. Austin gets the victory following his new
finisher, the Stone Cold Stunner, which he had debuted in the weeks leading
up to the PPV. 9/10-Wonderful technical wrestling, high spots and
suspenseful near falls make this match one of the best of 1996!

Vader vs Jake "The Snake" Roberts-Very short and poor contest! Jake wins by
DQ but Vader gets revenge after the match, Vader-Bombing Jake's ribs.
3/10-As i said before this match was poor but it served it's purpose in
hyping Vader as a bad ass monster and attempting to get the fans
rallying behind Jake in the final match where the injured Jake would be
the definite underdog.

The Ultimate Warrior vs Jerry "The King" Lawler-Ok it's bathroom time! This
match sucked beyond belief and it would have been a whole lot better if
they just let Warrior win in squash fashion, like he did with Hunter Hearst
Helmsley at Wrestlemania XII. 1/10-That one point is for Lawler's trash
talking the fans at the start of the match, watch that, but fast forward
the match!

The Undertaker vs Mankind-This match was a big disappointment! It had a few
high spots with Mankind doing his usual crazy bumps but the majority of
this match was quite boring really. 6/10-Not bad, not great but thankfully
these two would produce some true gems in the future!

The Smoking Gunns vs The Godwinns-Why either of these teams are in a tag
title match is beyond me! As i said earlier, truly talented teams like The
New Rockers and The Body Donnas deserved this spot despite their awful
gimmicks! 2/10-The match sucked! But thats not really suprising is it? Two
points for the stunning Sunny. I saw a recent picture of Tammy Sytch(Sunny)
in Power Slam Magazine-a sad and shocking sight indeed, especially when you
consider she's only in her early 30's!

Ahmed Johnson vs Goldust-Goodness me, this must be a nightmare! First off
we had the Ultimate Warrior/Jerry Lawler travesty, then The Undertaker and
Mankind had a match that was well below their abilities, then we were
subjected to two of the worst teams in WWF history, The Godwinns and The
Smoking Gunns and now we have one of the worst "wrestlers" of alltime Ahmed
Johnson in an Intercontinental title match! The underrated Goldust was at
the peak of his brilliantly played Psycho-sexual gimmick here but noone and
i mean noone could drag a good match out of Ahmed Johnson! Well a good
singles match anyway(he did have a few decent tag matches obviously carried
by others). The best part
about Ahmed Johnsons matches were the hilariously bad interviews he'd give
before the matches! LOL Sadly Ahmed won the title here but thankfully his
reign was shortlived after Faarooq(Ron Simmons) debuted in the WWF and put
Ahmed Johnson on the shelf. 2/10-Dire match!

Brian Pillman comes down the aisle on crutches and cuts a "psuedo-shoot"
promo, where he insults the crowd and calls Jim Ross a "stupid son of a
bitch". Unfortunately most of the WWF crowd don't know who Brian Pillman
is! Sadly Pillman was on the injured list and when he finally did return to
action in 1997 he was a shell of his former self-a high flying, master
technician who was one of the most popular superstars in WCW as both a face
and a hell. Even more sadly, Brian Pillman would pass away just over a year
after this PPV appearence.

Steve Austin comes down the aisle for his match and he and Brian glance
each other for the first time on WWE TV-about 3 years after they RULED the
WCW tag team division as The Hollywood Blondes!

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs Jake "The Snake" Roberts-This match is
basically Steve Austin beating the living hell out of Jake who manages to
get a few punches in before attempting his DDT but Austin counters by
ramming Jake's already injured ribs into the turnbuckle. Austin then puts
"The Snake" out of his misery with a Stunner and we have a new "King Of The
Ring". 4/10-Not much of a match but it served it's purpose.

Steve Austin then delivers a legendary interview that still gets the hairs
standing up on the back of wrestling fans necks no matter how many times
they have seen it! "The first thing i want to be done, is to get that piece
of crap outta my ring!" roars Austin who then goes onto say that all Jake
needs
is a bottle of "thunderbird" to get back some of the courage he had in his
prime! "Talk about John 3:16,.....Austin 3:16 said i just whipped your
ass!" proclaims Austin who draws a massive cheer from the crowd and we have
just witnessed the birth of a legend in the making! The only dodgy thing
about this promo was that Austin challenged the next WWF champion no matter
who it was but for some reason Austin never saw a title shot until the
following year and at the following WWF PPV "Summerslam 1996" Austin was
seemingly demoted to "free for all" duty in a match with Yokozuna that
lasted less than 5 minutes!

Shawn Michaels vs "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith(with special guest
referee "Mr Perfect" Curt Hennig)-These two have always had awesome matches
together and this match is perhaps their best ever. An epic battle
featuring scientific wrestling, high spots from Shawn, powermoves from
Davey Boy and Owen Hart plays a brilliant part both on commentary and as
Davey Boy's ringside cheerleader. Mr Perfect plays less of a role than you
might imagine as he's not actually the "real" referee in the match-only the
outside official! 9.5/10-A true classic even though the ending feels abit
"too soon"!

All in all King Of The Ring 1996 was a decent PPV and a major improvement
on the abysmal KOTR 1995, with two must see matches
and one must see interview! It's a shame the WWF decided to cut the
tournament down to size this year to "semi finals" only as it took the
"gauntlet" feel of the tournament away. Also matches like The Smoking Gunns
vs The Godwinns, The
Ultimate Warrior vs Jerry Lawler and Goldust vs Ahmed Johnson are best
forgotten and The Undertaker vs Mankind was a pretty mixed bag but these two
would produce much better matches in 1996's following PPV's "Summerslam",
"IYH:Buried Alive" and "The Survivor Series". If only they'd kept to
tradition and had the full 8 man Tournament on the PPV, which included
promising looking matches like Owen Hart vs Marc Mero and Jake Roberts vs
HHH, this show would have been alot better! This PPV is well worth your
time and gets 7.5/10-two must see matches and the Austin speech alone makes
it mandatory viewing for any wrestling fan!

WWE Hall Of Fame What Was Shown In The UK.

Well the hall of fame aired for one hour at 4pm on good friday 14th april 2006.
First up was hulk hogan and his induction of mene gene .

Then we had Eddie guerrero inducted by rey mysterio,chris benoit,Chavo guerrero.

Lillian garcia told us who was inducted earlier which was tony atlas,verne gagne,william refrigerator perry but their induction wasn't shown.

This followed by stonecold steve austin inducting Bret hitman hart which the 45minutes speech that was rumoured he did was cut to just 5 minutes with him saying his greatest match was at wembley stadium in london england at summerslam 92 against the british bulldog.

Card=Big Bossman/Bull Buchanon beat Godfather/D'Lo Brown in a match that
was OK, but definetly not the best choice to start the show! 3/10
Test/Albert
beat Steve Blackman/Al Snow in a good back and forth contest let down by
technical problems with the announcers audio and a dead crowd 6/10-some
nice sequences between these two teams here. Too Cool/Chyna beat Eddie
Guerrero/Dean Malenko/Perry Saturn in a fun 6 person tag match, with a hot
crowd 5/10. Kane/Rikishi beat X-Pac/Road Dogg in a short but watchable
match 3.5/10-the crowd was hot for this match too. [Cat Fight]Terri beat
The Kat in a gimmick match that served it's purpose for providing some
welcome T&A if nothing else! 2/10. [Hardcore Title/15 Minute Battle
Royal]Apparently Hardcore Holly won this 13 man match, but the ending was
clearly botched and even the embarrassed announcers had trouble explaining
the screw up. Basically what happened was Hardcore covered Crash Holly, but
ref Tim Whites hand never counted the full 3 count. To make things even
more complicated J.R proclaimed Crash got his shoulder up, when clearly he
didn't! The Fink then announced Hardcore as the winner and we have an
otherwise decent Battle Royal ruined 5.5/10(It would have been 6 if the
ending wasn't botched!). [I-C/European Title/2 Out Of 3 Falls Triple Threat
Match]Chris Benoit beat Chris Jericho to win the I-C Belt, while Chris
Jericho beat Chris Benoit to capture the Euro Belt. The third competitor
Kurt Angle lost both his titles despite not losing any decisions! 8.5/10-A
very good match, which was expected from these three. [WWF Tag
Titles/Ladder Match]Edge/Christian beat The Hardyz & The Dudleyz in an
amazing match that could be considered an "Unofficial" TLC match 9.5/10.
[WWF Title/Fatal 4 Way]Triple H beat The Rock, The Big Show & Mick Foley in
a great match that surprised alot of people who had
understandably low expectations from a match that featured The Big Show and
a Mcmahon in every corner. 8/10-not the best Wrestlemania main event ever
and it should have just been HHH vs Rock but still a very good match, high
on entertainment.

Overall=Not the best Wrestlemania ever but still a very underrated one with
alot of good matches and only the "Cat Fight" anything close to a "DUD".
The main event may have not been what the fans wanted but it was a
surprisingly good affair, full of twists and turns. The Hardyz/Dudleyz/E&C
Ladder match is the only must see match here but Benoit/Angle/Jericho
deserve a mention too 6.5/10. Best Match=Hardyz/Dudleyz/E&C. Worst
Match=Kat/Terri

My WM-XVI Card=[WWF Title]Triple H vs The Rock(their classic at the
following Backlash PPV where Steve Austin returned should have happened at
Wrestlemania XVI!). [WWF Tag Titles/Ladder Match]Hardyz vs Edge&Christian
vs Dudleyz. [I-C/European Title/Triple Threat/2 Out Of 3 Falls]Kurt Angle
vs Chris Benoit vs Chris Jericho[Hardcore Title]Hardcore Battle
Royal(Despite the screwed up ending this match was fine as it was but i'd
have made it a 15 Man match by adding Gangrel, Bossman and Godfather into
the mix). [Light Heavyweight Title]Malenko vs Guerrero(We could have had
another classic from these two and it would have been extra interesting
with both men being part of the "Radicalz" stable). [Womens Title]Stephanie
vs Chyna(Just to get the belt off "non wrestler" Stephanie whose Title
reign was a joke!). Val Venis vs Saturn(instead of reffing the catfight,
the underrated Val could have faced the equally underrated Saturn in what
could have been the sleeper hit of the night). Kane vs Bull Buchanon(This
might have been
OK with two agile bigmen). [Catfight]The Kat vs Terri(ok hardly a match but
abit of gratuitous T&A is fine by me!). Blackman/Snow vs Test/Albert(Screw
the crowd, this match was surprisingly good!). Rikishi/Too Cool vs Big
Show/X-Pac/Road Dogg.

Card=Bad News Brown won a 20 man battle royal. The match wasn't the most
exciting battle royal in the world but looking at the rest
of the card it was proberbly the only way to kick off the show 3.5/10.
Ultimate Warrior beat Hercules in a boring brawl 1.5/10 (WWF
Title Tourney:Round 1)Ted Dibiase beat Jim Duggan in a very poor match
1.5/10. Don Muraco beat Dino Bravo by DQ in a dull bout 2.5/10-Muraco was
well past his prime by 1988. Greg Valentine beat Ricky Steamboat in a
boring but passable match 4/10-thats
Savage/Steamboat II out the window then! Randy Savage beat Butch Reed in a
forgettable match 2/10. One Man Gang beat Bam Bam Bigelow by countout in a
poor battle of the beasts 2/10(for Bigelows athleticism!) Jake Roberts &
Rick Rude wrestled to a draw in a good, underrated match which
might have bored some, but the purpose of the match was to be a gruelling
epic and both men played their roles perfectly. 6/10 Bobby Heenan &
Islanders beat Bulldogs & Koko B'Ware in a decent enough match,
unsurprisingly thanks to The Bulldogs and Islanders 4.5/10-Heenan added some
decent comic value too. (WWF Title
Tourney:Round 2) Hulk Hogan & Andre
went to a double DQ in a very poor excuse for a rematch 3/10. Ted Dibiase
beat Don Muraco in a disappointing match 3.5/10 Randy
Savage beat Greg Valentine in a dull match
2.5/10.(WWF Tag Title)Demolition beat Strike Force in a solid match 5.5/10
(WWF
Title Tourney:Semi Final Match)Randy Savage beat One Man Gang in a
predictable bout 2/10. (I-C Title)Brutus Beefcake beat Honky Tonk Man by DQ
in a typical 80's style match, that the crowd made passable 2.5/10.(WWF
Title
Tournament:Finals)Randy Savage beat Ted Dibiase in a great but way too
short match that was definetly the best match of the
night. 8.5/10-On a downside though, Hulk Hogan just had to interject
himself into this one and Savage's title win didn't mean as much as it
should have since Hogan interfered in the match on Savage's behalf, giving
The Macho Man an unclean win.

Overall=A contender for worst Wrestlemania of alltime as well as most
disappointing Wrestlemania of alltime because there was so much potential
for great matches within the WWF Title Tournament, most notably Savage vs
Steamboat II, which Savage could have won, making him and Steamboat even.
Hogan vs Andre II was an atrocity! Hogan should have beat Andre, then
jobbed to Dibiase(thanks to
Andre's interference). This would have kept the Hogan/Andre feud going,
plus it would have made more sense for Hogan to cost Dibiase the Title in
the finals against Savage. We'd also have our Summerslam 88 main event set
with Savage/Hogan vs Andre/Dibiase too! Wrestlemania IV doesn't have one
must-see match on it, although Savage/Dibiase is a very good and underrated
match, it's hardly what a Wrestlemania main event should be, especially
given it's length. Up until 1988, Wrestlemania 2 was considered the worst
but Wrestlemania IV would certainly pose strong competition to it cause
while on the whole Wrestlemania 2 was a terrible show, it at least had one
must see match on it(Bulldogs/Dream Team) 2/10-Wrestlemania IV was 4 hours
of missed opportunities and
wasted potential! Best Match=Savage/Dibiase. Worst Match=Warrior/Hercules
